Conversation (scroll to read)

How are you doing?

I'm Ok

I've not seen you around

I've been busy

What have you been up to?

Just trying to sort out things

Reflect

What are the young people asking you to do here?

What can you do?

What can you do?

In the workshop we considered, What can you do?

Take a moment to listen to the experience of self-harm.

Don’t talk young people out of their feelings; try to validate the young person’s feelings.

Show the young person that it is possible to sit with difficult feelings: if you react too quickly you mirror the young person reacting to distress with self-harm.

Drag these sticky notes to the column that best describes your response:

I'M NOT YET CONFIDENT TO DO THIS

I'M CONFIDENT I COULD DO THIS

Listen

Ask if they're ok

Talk to them
